Capstan Winches
- The CL and CH series winches have a larger capstan as shown on the left and can handle up to 1 inch diameter rope.
- Shown on the right is the WP series which has a smaller capstan that works the best with 5/8 inch or smaller rope.
CH Series Capstan Winches
Capacities up to 3500 lbs.
Recessed areas on the capstan are designed to increase rope grip without compromising feathering ability or rope wear.
No maintenance. All components are lubricated by hydraulic oil.
The compact size takes up a minimum amount of space.
Large heavy duty, slow turning hydraulic motors assure long life. These last much longer than small higher speed motors using high reduction ratios.
All of the CH series winches use the same capstan. Each of the models shown below are available with either a 30, 50 or 70 size drive unit. The model suffix designates the style of winch. A CH 70 weighs about 3 pounds more than a CH 50 and about 7 pounds more than a CH 30.

CH 30-F
Fixed mount.

CH 50-RF
Capstan winch with rotating base.
Base rotates 360 degrees.
60 positions. Base locks in 6 degree increments.
The winch can be removed from the base by simply removing the locking pin.
Requires quick couplings or swivels on hoses.

CH 50-A
Adapter mount.
Can be used with a receiver hitch or the manhole and vault kit shown below.
Often used with our portable hydraulic power units that have flow control valves for variable speed.
Rope guide and quick couplings come standard on the adapter mount versions.

CH-MVK

Vertical capstan.
Compact winch requires a minimal amount of space.
Pressure fed lubrication solves upper bearing lubrication problems associated with some vertical mount designs.

CH 70-RCP
Rail car puller.
Attaches to the rail without tools.
For use on level tracks.
Speeds should be kept under 40 ft./min.
Requires room for adequate car stopping distance or using a block behind the car to pull away from the winch.
Can be converted to one of our fixed mount units.
Rope guide and quick couplings are standard on RCP versions.

CL Series Capstan Winches
The CL winch is a lighter weight version of the CH winch. The working dimensions of the capstan, the overall dimensions and the mounts are the same as the CH series.
Rope guides come standard on the CL winches.
Available with fixed mount, adapter mount or rotating base.
CL 3-F

Comes standard with rope guide and quick couplings.
